How can you prepare yourself before the treatment?
Before being injected to the dermal filler which will help to eliminate most of the swelling and bruising which can occur post-injection. It is suggested to avoid taking blood thinners for 2 weeks before the treatment. Having blood thinners in your system before injections could result in swelling, bruising and also lengthen the healing time. Two weeks before the treatment avoid taking Ibuprofen, Aspirin or similar products (Aleve, Motrin, Advil).
Also avoid consuming vitamin E, Fish Oils, green tea, gingko Biloba and ginseng. 24 hours before the treatment avoid consuming alcohol. Eat well and also keep yourself hydrated. If possible quit or avoid smoking 2 weeks prior to the treatment as it will greatly increase the risk of bruising and will also lengthen your healing time.
On the day of the treatment make sure that you arrive at the clinic on time with a clean and make-up free face. Try and arrive at least 10-15 minutes prior to the appointment time to read and sign the consent forms with the injectors. A numbing cream will be applied to the area before the injection. In case any medication on your prescription is a type of blood thinner, please inform your doctor in advance about it.
How long does the treatment last?
The treatment usually lasts about 30 minutes and takes about 10 to 20 minutes to inject in certain areas which are dependent upon the individual. Increase in the number of areas to be treated will increase the expected length of the appointment. The treatment requires very little downtime and you will see the results in just a short amount of time, which means you can get back to enjoying the rest of your day.
